Sonic Youth will remove dust a tour director of Bad Moon Rising
Ah, those wonderful years, so young, so alternative and noisy. Sonic Youth out of anonymity with their album, Bad Moon Rising, tiny kittens playing and sonic offering authentic experiences as their bolo at Smart Bar in Chicago August 1985, now recovered.
With Sonic Youth in dry dock after the breakup of Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, the pillars of the American band, the only scheduled activity is the edition of several projects of file like this that will be released November 14 via Goodfin’ Records.
This concert, Smart Bar – Chicago 1985 is a bootleg recorded on four tracks, mixed and re-mastered for the occasion. We will have it in CD, double LP and digital download, with texts by Gerard Coslov and the Sonic Youth engineer, Aaron Mullan.
Glossing the repertoire in the set-list are topics of Bad Moon Rising: ‘Death Valley ’69′, ‘Ghost Bitch’, but also advances of Evol: ‘Secret Girl’, ‘Expressway to Yr Skull’. And memories of Confusion are Sex: ‘Making The Nature Scene’ and the visceral EP Kill Yr Idols: cutting head and ‘Brother James’. There is also a rarity: ‘Kat ‘N’ Hat’, a cut that never recorded and only played that summer of 1985.
