Barbara Streisand wins award



Barbara Streisand will be early next year named MusiCares Person of the Year. The 68-year-old singer received the award for her career in music and her work for charities.

The award will be on February 11 during a gala in Los Angeles handed Streisand. The event is a precursor to the presentation of the Grammy Awards. This prestigious music awards are handed out two days later. Streisand previously pocketed eight Grammy Awards.

MusiCares was founded in 1989 by the organization behind the Grammy Awards. The fund provides assistance to musicians who are in financial or medical need. The prize was named to the fund previously won by among others James Taylor and Aretha Franklin.
